About This Site

The first incarnation of Kit's website existed on www.expage.com, and in fact, still exists as an index only. It is a greatly hidden secret. It was called "Welcome to my World", and was one of those horrible formatted "click this to make the text blue" type of happy pages.

Shortly before Kit went to college, and long before the great internet crash, she set herself up a page at Geocities Area 51. This too, still exists as an index only. The page changed slightly over the first few months of college, mostly being home to random bits of prose and information on RPGPSXMB, a message board she frequented.

The first true incarnation of "Piano Girl" didn't happen until Kit became part of the GIA and had her own free web space. The first design was also a monstrosity - she was demonstrating her newly acquired HTML SKILLZ by using tables and frames. ugh ugh ugh. However, she had some friends who were web designers, and they instilled some sense into her, such as that good web design should look sharp and clean and load quickly in many browsers.

Her life forever changed, she abandoned the frames for tables alone, and then in her Junior year of college, redid the design completely. It stayed like this for a rather long time, until the summer after college (2002) when she redid the whole design again on a whim to be rainbows on gray. Kit was bored with this in a month, and whined to a friend, who helped me convert the site over to a much more basic format utilizing CSS/SSI so that it would be quicker to change colors and graphics to suit my whims while keeping the basic layout the same.

And that's where we are today, in terms of format. Everything on this site is done from scratch in WordPad. Kit never ever uses FrontPage, Dreamweaver or anything of the like. She prefers to code all the HTML by hand, even if it means a simple design, so that she can see exactly what's going into the code where, how and why. Graphics are mostly Kit's own crappy artwork, sometimes with a bit of logo and photoshop help from friends.

Through graduate school (2004-2006), Kit mostly let the site sit idle, too busy with school and RP to bother updating, with the exception of some new fanfics. At the close of graduate school and on the verge of moving to California, Kit and her friends formed the group "All A Mistake" to be an archive for their artistic works - everything from fanfics and fanart to cosplay and other adventures. It made sense, then, to let Piano Girl go in favor of moving on into something new.

The old PG updates can be mocked through a link below and sections specific to Kit, such as her poetry or Billy Joel archive, can be found under her section of the new site.

Recently, Kit and L started a small Dollfie business and the site changed names again.
